After a confident victory over Kecmanovic, Daniil Medvedev will have to face another Balkan, Marin Cilic. Daniil is quoted as the favorite in the pair. We note the fact that bookmakers began to believe that the second racket of the world can make a sensation and give battle to the tennis giants - Nadal and Djokovic on the courts of Roland Garros.

Marin played tournaments in Monte Carlo, Estoril, Madrid and Rome before RG-2022, but he did not show anything extraordinary on the clay. We had no doubt that Medvedev would beat Kecmanovic in the third round of Roland Garros. But honestly, we didn't think it would be that fast. Daniil needed only one hour and 51 minutes to advance to the fourth round, while Miomir beat Medvedev in only eight games. We want to pay special attention to the winners/unforced errors statistics, which is 42:26 for Daniil. Medvedev won 77% of points on first serve, 61% on second serve, 40/44, respectively. We can see that Medvedev is getting in shape. Also, Daniil knocked out Bagnis and Djere before defeating Kecmanovic.
I'll have to do better in Roland Garros than last year. That's for sure. Again, last year I felt like I was playing great tennis, and yet I lost in quarters. Yeah, even in Australian Open -- less than US Open, US Open I feel like I always play great, but Australian Open some matches I didn't feel I played great, but I made final two times. That's what I didn't manage to do in Roland Garros, playing great. The further I can go during this tournaments -- this year I didn't happen to play in the other Masters 1000, maybe one day I can win one -- the more I will maybe start thinking, okay, that's better and better.

The world No.2 before Roland Garros looked weak, to put it mildly, but at the Majors Daniel improved greatly, which was news to many experts. Cilic is a more serious player than either Kecmanovic or Djere, but we doubt the Croatian could beat Medvedev in more than one set. In general, we will not be surprised if Daniel wins another, fourth consecutive victory at the tournament with a score of 3:0.
