Movsar Evloev vs Aljamain Sterling Prediction: We're in For a Bout of Two Unique Fighters

UFC 310 is happening on 8 December in Las Vegas, USA. In one of the main card bouts, Russian fighter Movsar Evloev will be up against American Aljamain Sterling. The bout will be in the welterweight division, with Evloev ranked fifth and Sterling ninth. Just to flag that this match was supposed to happen on October 5th, but Sterling asked for it to be postponed.

Movsar Evloev isn't Dana White's favourite, but he always wins, and he usually does so with confidence. But he's not as interesting to the UFC as we'd like. Most people don't pay much attention to his fights, except for Russian fans.

Even so, the big boss isn't concerned about such issues. Eighteen victories (eight in UFC) and a perfect record can't be ignored. If he wins again, the league matchmakers will have to consider his championship prospects.

Movsar doesn't fight often, which is kind of frustrating, and gives the league more reasons to tighten its grip on his title. His last bout happened in January, where he defeated the very tough Arnold Allen. Evloev did really well, looking excellent in both in the standing and wrestling. He also survived several knees to the head and a pretty serious beating. But Movsar took the victory on all the judges' scorecards, and he deserved it. Aljamain Sterling should be the last hurdle before he fights the champion, but will he be? It'll take more than just a win – it'll take a decisive and ruthless win.

Sterling is currently ranked eighth in the welterweight division, which is a bit of a surprise. He's only had one fight here (his last), and that was with Calvin Kattar was about as entertaining as almost all of Movsar's bouts.

But we love him in a way that isn't entirely requited. We love him for his incredible artistry in the first fight with Petr Yan and for the most strange (biased?) referee's decision in the second fight. And we were all delighted by the stunning knockout of Sean O'Malley, even if it wasn't quite as impressive as it could have been. Sterling is still on a winning streak, with only one loss in his last eleven fights. He's at the top of his game, but he doesn't have the size advantage in his new division, the welterweight division. But what he does have is an ambitious streak and a way with words. Aljamain says he'll beat not only Movsar Evloev, but also Ilia Topuria.

We're in for a bout between two very different fighters (even though they have such different styles), which doesn't promise to be a great spectacle. Movsar says he'll quickly finish his opponent, but we'll see.

We think the fight will go as follows: after punch exchange, Evloev will find a moment and move to the legs, where the tactical struggle will begin. Nobody will take any risks here, but we will see the famous pressing from the Russian. In his perfect form, Movsar is stronger than his opponent, stronger mentally, physically and in terms of skills, so we have no doubts about his victory. We only doubt that it will be early.
