Denmark vs England Prediction, Betting Tips & Odds │20 JUNE, 2023

When England plays Denmark on Thursday 20th June 2024 at 19:00 (GMT+3) in Frankfurt am Main's Frankfurt Arena in the UEFA European Championship group stage, they'll be hoping to build on their unbeaten start. Denmark drew 1-1 with Slovenia on June 16 to earn a point in their first Euro 2024 group round encounter. Christian Eriksen scored a goal in the match. In their last five games across all competitions, they have not lost.

In their first group stage match of the Euro 2024, England defeated Serbia 1-0 at Arena AufSchalke on June 16. The only other player to score in the victory was Jude Bellingham. In 2024, they have had two victories, one tie, and two defeats. With three points, England leads the group; Denmark is in second place with one point. Slovenia, meanwhile, is in third place with one point. Serbia is in fourth place with no points.

The last time the two teams played, was in July 2021 at Wembley Stadium, during the 2021 Euro 2021 Semi-finals, England prevailed 2-1 after extra time. In the 104th minute, Harry Kane gave England their lone goal. They also benefited from Simon Kjaer of Denmark's own goal. In the thirty-first minute, Mikkel Damsgaard scored the lone goal for Denmark. Eriksen's goal against Slovenia gave Denmark the early lead in the Euro 2024 scoring race. Bellingham gave England the lead early in the Euro 2024 scoring competition with a goal versus Serbia.

Denmark has played six games in all competitions thus far, winning three, drawing two, and losing one. During that time, the Danish team scored eight goals and gave up five, winning four of the six games. While their opponents only scored once in the opening forty-five minutes, the majority of their goals—five—came in the first half. In their last six games, England has won two, drawn two, and lost two. During that span, the English team scored seven goals and let up five, scoring first in two of the six games. In the first half, they scored twice, but their opponents scored four goals prior to halftime.

Christian Eriksen scored the first goal of Sunday's Group C match against Slovenia, marking his triumphant comeback to the continental scene precisely 1,100 days after going into cardiac arrest during Denmark's inaugural Euro 2020 match. In the seventeenth minute, the Manchester United player scored his first goal after thumping down a beautiful flick from colleague Jonas Wind. But, Eriksen's return was short of perfection as, 13 minutes from time, a long-range shot deflected by Slovenia's Erik Janza cancelled out his opener, leaving both teams to split the points in a 1-1 draw.

In order to secure three crucial points from at least one of their remaining two group games, Denmark's coach, Kasper Hjulmand, acknowledged after the game that his team was "too passive" and lacked intensity in the last ninety minutes. As a result, he has urged his players to sustain their high level of energy throughout the whole ninety minutes. Denmark, ranked 21st in the world by FIFA, has been hard to beat lately as they have only lost one of their last 13 international games since March 2023. However, after drawing with Slovenia, they have now only triumphed once in their last six European Championship group stage matches (W1 D1 L4).

The winners of Euro 1992 have only triumphed in four of their previous 22 meetings with England going into this match. Should they fail to secure the maximum points, they risk losing in the group stage of a major tournament for the second time in a row, following their elimination at the first hurdle in the 2022 World Cup.

Jude Bellingham, who had an incredible first season at Real Madrid, led England to a crucial 1-0 victory over Serbia in their Group C opener on Sunday, guaranteeing that the Three Lions' journey to defeat the challenges of Euro 2020 got off to a good start. After 20-year-old Bellingham headed home a header from Bukayo Saka's deflected cross in the 13th minute, it looked as though the floodgates would open, but England's inability to capitalize on their early dominance resulted in a nervous second half as they had to withstand pressure from a much-improved Serbian team.

Still, from a defensive standpoint, Gareth Southgate's team can be encouraged because they displayed "resilience" in order to neutralize Serbia's threat. In the end, England managed to secure all possible points and are currently two points ahead of Slovenia and Denmark. They know that if they win against the former on Thursday, they will advance to the round of sixteen. With eight wins and four draws in their group stage record since their Euro 2004 opener against France, England has become the first country in the history of the European Championship to keep five straight clean sheets during the championship.

It's interesting to note that when England plays Denmark on Thursday, they will be attempting to win their first two games at a Euros tournament for the first time, although victory over the Danes is far from assured given that they have lost all three of their prior competitive meetings in 90 minutes.

There hasn't been more than one goal scored in any of the previous four encounters between Denmark and England, so another close game may be in store given the high stakes at this early point in the competition.

Although Denmark can't be written off in Frankfurt and has the attacking players at their disposal to give England a scare or two, the Three Lions should be able to secure their spot in the round of 16 if they can find a way to defend with the same tenacity that helped them overcome Serbia and if Southgate can get his final-third stars to perform.
