Egypt vs Botswana Prediction: With the absence of major players for the hosts, they still remain the favourite here

The Botswana National team will face off against the Pharaohs at the 30 June Air Defense Stadium on Tuesday. The guests have everything to play for here; they need a point to guarantee a place in Morocco next year. At the same time, the hosts will play without any worries, having already won the group. 

Egypt

The Pharaohs are unbeaten in their previous five matches in the group, scoring eleven and conceding once. Hossam Hassan's men head here with a share of the spoils against Cape Verde on the road in a needless game. Egypt looked to their bench for players who eventually delivered against a delicate opponent. In the absence of Zizo, Salah and Trezeguet, Egypt were not bad at all. 

Having picked up thirteen points from a possible fifteen in the competition, Egypt have successfully booked their ticket to next year’s edition of the AFCON. Egypt presently sit at the top of the log with four clean sheets. 

Egypt are the favourite going into the match, boasting a squad full of talent and experience; they will be looking to dominate possession and create chances in the attacking third.

Botswana

The Southern African side have only played in the AFCON tournament once, and they’ll be poised to cement their spot in Morocco next year. The ball is still in their court after failing to beat Mauritania a few days ago. They presently occupy second place on the standings, seven points out of a combined fifteen. 

The Zebras have won twice in the last five group matches, and both came against Cape Verde. 

Botswana have been unbeaten over their last three games, and they’ll be keen to maintain such a run against the Pharaohs tomorrow. 

Expert Betting Tips

Egypt have won four and drawn once over their previous five matches against Botswana. Egypt have not been defeated in twenty consecutive qualification home games in their group— stretching back to 2014 qualifiers. Egypt didn’t play with three key players up front against Cape Verde but managed to come out unhurt. They have a reserved team who are capable of getting the job done. 

Botswana, who are in dire need of a point here, will have to sweat to get it, which means they’ll have to defend from start to end. It's not advisable against an Egypt team who have more than enough technical players. We are still going to back the hosts here even though they have nothing to play for.

Botswana might likely be able to at least defend their way throughout the first half, but not after the break.
