Coach Of Tsitsipas Walks Out On Athlete Because Of His Approach To Training

Christos Fiotakis, the physical training coach of Greek tennis player Stefanos Tsitsipas, has announced the end of their partnership due to differences in priorities.

Fiotakis noted that the goals he set as a coach were not achieved. However, he stressed that he helped Tsitsipas recover from injury and return to a high level of competition.

Fiotakis told SDNA:

I'm not happy with Stefanos' work ethic. The team atmosphere doesn't match my energy and unfortunately we have other priorities. For now, I don't think his ultimate goal is to play tennis, reach the top of the rankings or win Grand Slam tournaments.

Fiotakis had been working with Tsitsipas for several years, following his request. During the off-season, he became a permanent member of the team, but their collaboration did not last even a year.

Tsitsipas won the ATP Finals singles title in 2019, reached the finals of Grand Slam tournaments in singles twice, and claimed victory in 13 ATP tournaments.
