Andy Murray Announces 2024 Olympics Will Be His Last Competition

British professional tennis player and 49-time ATP tournament winner Andy Murray has declared that the Summer Olympics in Paris in 2024 will be the last event of his athletic career.

The 37-year-old tennis player wrote on his X page:

Andy Murray
Arrived in Paris for my last ever tennis tournament. Competing for Team GB has been by far the most memorable weeks of my career and I'm extremely proud to get to do it one final time!

The tennis tournament at the 2024 Olympics is scheduled from July 27 to August 4.

Murray is the only male singles player in tennis history to have won two Olympic gold medals (2012, 2016). He also won Wimbledon twice (2013, 2016) and clinched one victory at the US Open (2012).

On July 2, it was announced that Murray would miss the men's singles event at his home Wimbledon 2024 due to a previous injury, but he will participate in the doubles tournament with his older brother Jamie.

Earlier, on February 28, Murray, currently ranked 67th in the ATP rankings, hinted that he could retire from professional tennis in 2024.
