Two South Korean Figure Skaters Suspended From Competitions For Harassment

Two figure skaters from the South Korean national team have been temporarily suspended in connection with a harassment case. This was reported by the news outlet Naver, citing a representative of the Korean Skating Union.

According to the source, during a May training camp in Italy, both athletes were found in a state of alcohol intoxication several times. The investigation found that they harassed a junior figure skater.

According to the investigation, one of the athletes, in a state of alcohol intoxication, forced the younger skater into the women's dormitory and then sexually harassed him. The other skater was in the room and took photos of the incident, which she then sent to the skater.

Following the investigation, the disciplinary committee took the following measures: the skater who committed the harassment was suspended for three years, the second skater for one year. The skater who visited the female dormitory received a warning, and a decision was made. One of the national team coaches was suspended for three months for negligence in this incident.

Earlier, Australian figure skater Brendan Kerry was permanently suspended for sexual misconduct.
