
Former European long jump champion and Olympic Games participant, Bulgarian Petar Dachev, has been arrested on suspicion of cocaine smuggling, according to Blitz.bg.
Authorities found 30 kg of cocaine in Dachev’s truck, valued at approximately €2.77 million, hidden in a specially designed compartment.
The Sofia District Court denied Dachev's request for house arrest, keeping him in custody.
Dachev is a winner of the 1998 World Junior Championship, the 2000 European Indoor Championships, and a bronze medalist at the outdoor European Championships in 1998 and the indoor ones in 2002.
In related news, a FIFA employee was previously arrested for alleged sexual relations with a minor, and it was also reported that basketball player Michael Jordan's son was arrested for drunk driving and possession of illegal substances.
