UFC President Dana White spoke about Justin Gaethje's prospects for a title shot following his victory over Rafael Fiziev in a rematch at UFC 313.
On March 9, Gaethje won against Fiziev by unanimous decision.
Championship Rounds quote White on their social media page as saying:
He’s still the number three ranked in the world so the odds of him getting a title shot are pretty good.
The first meeting between the fighters took place in March 2023 at UFC 286, ending in a majority decision victory for Gaethje.
Fiziev last fought at UFC 313 after stepping into the octagon in September 2023 at UFC Fight Night 228, where he lost to Mateusz Gamrot by technical knockout in the second round. His record stands at 12 wins and 4 losses.
Gaethje's last fight was in April 2024 at UFC 300, where he suffered a knockout loss to Max Holloway in the fifth round. His overall record includes 26 wins and 5 losses.
