The Global Fight League (GFL) has canceled its tournaments scheduled for May 24 and 25 in Los Angeles. This was confirmed by Andy Foster, the executive director of the California State Athletic Commission.
GFL founder Darren Owen explained in an interview with Uncrowned that the cancellation was due to one of the promotion's main investors failing to meet their financial obligations. He expressed hope to hold the first tournaments on June 15-16.
The event on May 24 was set to feature the following matchups: Urijah Faber vs. Renan Barao, Anthony Pettis vs. Benson Henderson, and Holly Holm vs. Julia Budd.
The May 25 event had the following fights scheduled: Tony Ferguson vs. Dillon Danis, Ovince St. Preux vs. Alexander Gustafsson, Uriah Hall vs. Douglas Lima, and Paige VanZant vs. Randy Field.
