Former Bellator champion in two weight classes, Patricio Freire, has expressed his willingness to face former UFC featherweight champion José Aldo if an offer for the match comes through.
Patricio Freire for MMA Fighting
I don’t have this desire to fight Aldo, nothing like that, but for the context, if an offer comes from the UFC, I would be happy to take it. I think it’s a fight that if ends up not happening, it would leave a taste like, ‘Damn, they haven’t fought each other after so much time as featherweight champions.’
Freire is scheduled to fight Yair Rodriguez on April 13 at UFC 314 in Miami, USA. In March 2024, at a Bellator event in Belfast, Patricio won by technical knockout against Jeremy Kennedy. His professional record stands at 36 wins and 7 losses.
Aldo is set to face Aiemann Zahabi on May 11 at UFC 315 in Montreal, Canada. In October 2024, at UFC 307, José suffered a split decision loss to Mario Bautista. Aldo has a record of 32 wins and 9 losses.
