American UFC fighter Michael Chandler has expressed that he would like his fellow countryman Justin Gaethje to receive a title chance. Currently, the UFC lightweight title is held by Islam Makhachev.

If I’m thinking with my heart, I want Gaethje to get a shot. Gaethje being the No. 1 guy and putting that No. 1 ranking on the line against Max Holloway for the BMF belt, and then losing that, so then he drops down a notch.
Gaethje’s last fight was against Rafael Fiziev in March this year at UFC 313, where he won by unanimous decision after going the distance. His record stands at 26 wins and five losses.
Chandler is set to fight Paddy Pimblett on April 13 at UFC 314 in Miami, USA. In November 2024, at UFC 309, Michael lost to Charles Oliveira by unanimous decision. His current record includes 23 wins and nine losses.
