The Voetbal Nieuws website, citing journalist Sacha Tavolieri, reports that the position of head coach for the Belgium national football team may be taken by 1998 World Champion and 2000 European Champion, former striker Thierry Henry.
According to available information, the 47-year-old Frenchman, who played for Monaco, Juventus, Arsenal, and Barcelona, maintains good relationships with many Red Devils’ players. Henry's last job was with the French Olympic team, where he earned a silver medal at the 2024 Games. A decision regarding the new head coach of the Belgian team is expected to be made by the end of January.
On January 8, Sport-Express reported that Portuguese manager Sergio Conceicao had declined the Belgium’s team coaching position after accepting an offer from Serie A club Milan.
On November 27, 2024, Tavolieri indicated that the current coach of the Belgium team, Domenico Tedesco, might leave his position. The 39-year-old Tedesco took charge of the team in February 2023 and has a contract that extends until the end of June 2026. Under the German coach, the Belgians reached the Round of 16 in Euro 2024 and placed third in their UEFA Nations League group.
