
According to El Pais, 26-year-old midfielder Nicolas Fonseca, who plays for Leon and the Uruguayan national team, was kidnapped in Mexico.
The source reported that he was taken while on his way to training with Leon. Armed assailants intercepted his car and held him for two hours before abandoning him in a remote area, about 25 kilometers from where he was kidnapped.
Currently, it appears that Nicolas Fonseca is safe and ready to play in the upcoming match for his Mexican team.
So far this season, the 26-year-old Fonseca has participated in nine matches for Leon without scoring any goals or making assists.
His contract with the Mexican club is set to expire at the end of December 2028, and his transfer value is estimated at 2.7 million euros by Transfermarkt.

Additionally, the father of Liverpool forward Luis Diaz was freed by Colombian police after being kidnapped.
