Former Chelsea and England national team defender, coach John Terry, commented on the trolling by British channel BBC towards Portugal's national team forward Cristiano Ronaldo during the Euro-2024 Round of 16 match.
The match, where Portugal defeated Slovenia (0:0 in regular time, 3:0 on penalties), took place on July 1 in Frankfurt. At the 105th minute, 39-year-old Ronaldo missed a penalty, saved by Slovenia's goalkeeper Jan Oblak. However, Ronaldo successfully converted his attempt in the post-match penalty shootout.
During the BBC broadcast, the famous forward's name was changed to Misstiano Penaldo, sparking criticism from many football fans.
Terry wrote on his Instagram page, attaching a controversial screenshot from the broadcast:
BBC, this is a disgrace.
In a post-match interview, Ronaldo mentioned that this European Championship would be his last in his professional career.
