Tanzania and Ethiopia began their 2025 TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying campaign with a 0-0 draw in Dar es Salaam on Wednesday. Both teams struggled to generate scoring chances, showcasing cautious and physical play throughout the match.

Early on, Tanzania attempted a few shots on goal, but Ethiopian goalkeeper Seid Habtamu Aregawi managed to protect the net. Conversely, Ethiopia's flanks occasionally opened up, yet they faced strong defensive resistance from Tanzania.

After halftime, Tanzania made tactical changes, which allowed them to control possession. However, they couldn't break through Ethiopia's defense, resulting in a draw.

Meanwhile, in Tripoli, Libya and Rwanda also ended their Group D match at 1-1. Libya’s Sobhi Al-Dawi scored first, but Rwanda equalized with Innocent Ntshwe early in the second half. Both teams left the field with a point each.
