The Mirror has reported that Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is ready to let go of a whole group of first-team players.
According to sources, the following players are expected to leave the team: goalkeeper Ederson Moraes, defenders Kyle Walker and John Stones, and midfielders Mateo Kovacic, Ilkay Gundogan, Kevin De Bruyne, Jack Grealish, and Bernardo Silva.
Additionally, the Citizens are preparing to acquire defenders Juma Bah (Lens) and Andrea Cambiaso (Juventus), as well as midfielders Florian Wirtz (Bayer) and Claudio Echeverri (River Plate) during the summer of 2025.
As of now, after 25 rounds of the 2024/2025 Premier League season, the team under Guardiola's management has accumulated 44 points and is in fourth place in the standings.
Moreover, on February 20, City lost to Real Madrid in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League playoffs (1-3) and, with an aggregate score of 1-3, ended their participation in the tournament. This marks the first time since Guardiola took over in 2016 that City has failed to reach the Round of 16. On February 21, Guardiola stated in an interview with insider Fabrizio Romano that he wishes to remain in his position and continue coaching Manchester City.
