Flick Explains Why Fati Isn’t Playing for Barcelona

Barcelona head coach Hans-Dieter Flick discussed the absence of 21-year-old winger Ansu Fati from the pitch after his team’s narrow 1-0 victory over Getafe in the seventh round of La Liga.

Flick told Marca:

Ansu is at 100%, but the match was tough and we decided to bring other players.

Fati is a graduate of Barcelona's academy and has only seen two minutes of action in a Champions League match against Monaco this season, without contributing to any scoring efforts.

His contract with the Catalan club runs until the end of June 2027, and Transfermarkt estimates the 20-year-old winger at €25 million.

Currently, Barcelona sit at the top of the La Liga standings with 21 points. Their next match will be against Osasuna on September 28.

According to Sport, Ansu Fati has garnered interest from several clubs in Saudi Arabia. Additionally, it was reported that 17-year-old winger Lamine Yamal suffered an injury during the match against Getafe in the seventh round of La Liga.
