The International Football Federation (FIFA) announced the creation of a new tournament where the best clubs of the planet will compete annually. The championship has been named the Intercontinental Cup.
The tournament will be held in two stages. The winners of the main club tournaments of all confederations will participate in the Cup. In the final of the tournament, the winner of the UEFA Champions League will play the winner of an intercontinental play-off between clubs from other confederations.
FIFA will decide on the dates of the first legs after consultation with the heads of clubs and confederations. The playoffs will be held at a neutral stadium on December 14, 2024, and the final will be held on December 18 at the same arena.
