Jackline Juma became the first ever female coach to take charge of a Kenyan Premier League team at the start of the season, and the players say they have embraced her presence positively and admitted she has brought a lot of positive change to the team.
Speaking exclusively to marvelbetgames.com, FC Talanta captain Peter Mungai says even though at first there were jitters when it was announced Juma would take charge, they have enjoyed working with her so far.
Obviously at the start there were some jitters, of course, with a female coach coming on board, but in life you have to embrace change. Football has evolved now, and genders don’t matter. Having a female coach has really strengthened the bond in the team because women are quite good with bringing people together. We are really happy as a team working with her.
FC Talanta have had a positive start to the season with four points from two games; a win and a draw. Mungai credits the good start to the changes coach Juma has brought into the team and says they are now playing far much better compared to last season.
Our game has really improved because she has brought new ideas, new ways of playing and a new spirit. She is a great coach and I believe we will continue doing well with her and do much better than last season.
Mungai says the team targets to finish the season in the top half of the table.
