Australian driver Oscar Piastri from the British McLaren team has shared insights on what he needs to improve to contend for the Formula 1 championship.
I think, to be honest, across the two seasons I’ve had, the story has been a little bit different. Obviously last season, I made life difficult for myself in qualifying a lot of the year. I felt like I improved myself as a driver in a lot of other areas, and I was able to show what I’m capable of in a lot of other areas. So it’s about improving across the board, making sure I qualify a bit better is probably a higher priority.
In the 2023/24 season, the Australian driver secured two victories—at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix and the Hungarian Grand Prix—and reached the podium seven times, which allowed him to secure fourth place in the drivers' championship with 292 points. These achievements also contributed to McLaren's success in the Constructors' Cup, marking the team's first title since 1998.
The upcoming Formula 1 season has 24 races, starting on March 16 in Melbourne, Australia, and ending on December 7 in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
According to F1-Insider, Austrian team Red Bull Racing intends to sign Oscar Piastri from McLaren. The 23-year-old driver recently stated that he is happy with the British team and does not wish to make a move to the Bulls.
