Helmut Marko States Perez's Accident Will Cost Red Bull Three Million Dollars

Red Bull's motorsport advisor Helmut Marko commented on the accident of Mexican driver Sergio Perez and revealed the cost to the Austrian team for this incident.

An accident involving Sergio Perez and two Haas drivers occurred on the first lap of the Monaco Grand Prix. The car of the Mexican driver was almost completely destroyed. All three drivers dropped out from the race, and red flags were raised on the track.

I was surprised, though, how quickly the stewards dealt with the matter. These are decisions you can hardly influence, but it was just dangerous. On the one hand there is the danger and on the other hand the damage, which amounts to two to three million. That has a huge effect on our budget cap's ceiling.

At the end of the race, the Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc won the home Grand Prix for the first time in his career.

McLaren's representative, Australian Oscar Piastri, finished second. Rounding out the top three was Leclerc's teammate, Spanish driver Carlos Sainz.

Three-time world champion and Perez's partner, Dutchman Max Verstappen, finished sixth.
