
Current holder of the WBC, WBA, WBO, and IBO heavyweight titles, Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk, has been awarded a doctorate in philosophy.
Usyk defended his dissertation at the Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs. He received his PhD in the field of law, with unanimous support from all members of the commission.
His dissertation topic was "Administrative and Legal Support of International Cooperation in the Field of Physical Culture and Sports."
Usyk's last fight was against Tyson Fury in December 2024 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Oleksandr won that fight by unanimous decision, defending his WBA, WBC, WBO, and IBO heavyweight titles.
Usyk made his professional ring debut in November 2013 against Mexican boxer Felipe Romero. That fight, which was stopped in the fifth round, concluded with a technical knockout victory for Oleksandr. His record stands at 23 wins (14 by knockout) and no losses.
