Turki Alalshikh, the Chairman of the General Entertainment Authority in Saudi Arabia, has announced that he is no longer interested in the match between Dmitry Bivol, the undisputed light heavyweight champion, and David Benavidez, the interim WBC champion.
The World Boxing Council (WBC) has mandated Bivol to defend his title against Benavidez. The boxers have been given a 30-day period for free negotiations before promotional bids are set to be announced on April 8.
I am no longer interested in Bivol-Benavidez and I will not bid on it. I think Bivol knows who has delivered for him and who hasn’t. My advice to Bivol: don’t be late because every day something changes.
On February 23, Dmitry Bivol secured a victory over Artur Beterbiev by majority decision. His record stands at 24 wins (12 by knockout) and one loss.
David Benavidez last fought in February 2025, winning against David Morrell by unanimous decision. He has a record of 30 wins (24 by knockout) and no losses.
