The International Boxing Federation (IBF) has officially mandated a title defense for British boxer Daniel Dubois. He is set to face his fellow countryman Derek Chisora.
The IBF has given both fighters' teams until May 22 to reach an agreement, or else a purse bid will be held.
Before this deadline, Dubois’ team may finalize a rematch deal with the holder of the WBO, WBC, IBO, and WBA heavyweight titles, Oleksandr Usyk. According to IBF rules, a unification takes precedence over a mandatory defense until the fight goes to auction. Dubois and Usyk are expected to announce their rematch for the undisputed world champion title soon.
Their first encounter took place in August 2023 in Wrocław, Poland, where Usyk won by knockout in the ninth round.
Usyk’s last fight was against Tyson Fury in December 2024. This bout went the distance, and Usyk won by unanimous decision, successfully defending his heavyweight titles. He has a record of 23 wins (14 by knockout) and no losses.
Dubois last fought Anthony Joshua in October 2024, winning by technical knockout in the fifth round. He holds 22 victories (21 by knockout) and two defeats.
