Former WBC world champion in the cruiserweight division, Grigory Drozd from Russia, has been suspended for four years for violating anti-doping regulations. This announcement was made by the International Testing Agency (ITA).
It’s important to note that, based on the data from the Moscow Anti-Doping Laboratory (LIMS), Drozd was temporarily banned starting from September 9, 2024, after failing a doping test in September 2014, just one day after his victory over Krzysztof Włodarczyk.
Drozd's ban will last until September 8, 2028, and all results from matches since September 2014 will be cancelled.
The last fight Drozd participated in was against Lukasz Janik in May 2015 in Moscow. Grigory won that fight in the ninth round by technical knockout and successfully defended his WBC cruiserweight championship title. His professional record stands at 40 wins (28 by knockout) and one loss.
