Yue Yuan vs Jessica Pegula Prediction: Will Yue stand any chance against Jessica? Probably not

Yuan has been impressive throughout the US Open. She enters the Third Round after beating Irina-Camilea Begu 6-3, 7-6. In that game, Yuan did a great job of breaking Begu’s serve, earning a 36-27 receiving points advantage while recovering on the second serve, eking out a 15-8 second serve points.

Yuan entered as a Qualifier and beat steady competitors Katie Volynets, Mai Hontama, and Maddison Inglis to make it to the Main Round. In the first round, she beat Jaimee Fourlis 6-3, 6-2, and in that game, she was doing a great job on the return points. Yuan has been in great touch this year and is ranked in the 130s. But in this game, she will come across a tough draw.

Jessica has been doing Jessica things on her home turf. She defeated Aliaksandra Sasnovich 6-4, 6-4 in the Second Round. She clasped 5 Aces and had a win% of 77 on the first serve. She had a 5/10 break points advantage and had a 9 points service points and 8 points receiving points advantage. Jessica had beaten Viktorija Golubic 6-2, 6-2 in the first round.

Pegula came into the tournament as the eighth seed and is considered one of the elite players on the WTA tour. This has been her best year in terms of Grand Slam, reaching the Quarter-Finals of both Australian and French Open while a third appearance came during Wimbledon. Can she get to at least Round of 16 here?

This is the first time Yue and Jessica will clash against each other.

Yue has been in scintillating touch during the French Open, having a dream run and a Third Round appearance is itself a huge achievement. For Jessica, standards are way too higher at this point of her career, and she must be raring to make a deep run in the home nation. There is no doubt that Jessica is going to come in with a significant advantage so I am going to take her as the winner here.
