Richard Gasquet
Before the US Open, Gasquet played only one tournament, in Winston-Salem, making it to the quarterfinals. At that stage, the Frenchman lost in three sets to Djere, a Serbian tennis player. In New York, the Frenchmen played two matches, both winning in four sets - over Daniel and Kecmanovic. The match against Kecmanovic lasted two hours and 50 minutes, Gasquet made 9 aces and 10 double faults, won 76% of points on first serve and 41% on second, 33%/58% on receptions and 61/46 of winners/unforced errors.
Rafa Nadal
The third-ranked player of the world and 4-time U.S. Open winner beat Fognini in 4 sets, roughly the same scenario as before Hijikata. Overall, the match lasted two hours and 38 minutes, 4/2 aces/doubles, 68%/47% on first serve, 48%63% on receptions and 20/37 of winners/unforced errors. Also note that Fognini's winners/errors stats were just awful - 24/60. Nadal was unimpressive to say the least, but he faces a very familiar and comfortable opponent, so we'll see if the Spaniard will improve.
Expert Betting Tips
Nadal is slowly gaining form. In the second round, he lost the first set again. Still, he beat Fognini very quickly, although he made many faults. The Spaniard well studied Gasquet, and we doubt that the Frenchman can somehow surprise Rafa. So we do not expect a long match. On the contrary, we offer bets on a confident victory of the 4-time winner of the US Open.
