A recap of the 2022 Six Nations; France leading, Wales struggling

The tournament witnessed the international rugby union teams of England, France, Ireland, Italy, Wales, and Scotland fight against one another in rugby-packed matches. The tournament commenced on February 5 2022.

Currently, France tops the scoreboard with a 100 percent winning streak. It has played three matches and won them all, putting a cumulative score of 14 on the board.

On the other hand, Wales, despite being the defending champions, has struggled quite a bit this season. They currently rank fifth on the board, only surpassing Italy. Out of the three matches played, it has won only one, putting a meager five points on the scoreboard.

A controversial choice by the Wales team

Tomas Francic suffered quite a blow to the head in Wales’ match against England, where the team lost by 23-19. After the brutal blow at around the 20th minute of the match, the player struggled in getting back up to his feet.

A former Welsh Rugby Union doctor, Dr. John Fairclough, believes that Wales should not be making Francis play in the game against France.

Former Welsh Rugby Union (WRU) doctor John Fairclough urged Wales not to select Tomas Francis for their Six Nations clash against France after the prop suffered a head injury against England.

"The player has passed all the protocols, done his gradual return to play, ticked off all his contact boxes, and he is available for selection." said assistant coach Gethin Jenkins.

Will Francis’s injury further put Wales in a tough spot?

France seems to be unstoppable

France’s last match in the Six Nations brutally crushed Scotland’s journey while further engraving its own position in the Grand Slam.

The team managed to establish a lead very early on in the game – only eight minutes in, all thanks to Antoine Dupont. The power of the throw was vicious and goes to show just how strong the team is. Depsite Russell’s poor performance, this time in the form of a penalty, France didn’t let Scotland catch on.

Former Irish Lions captain Sam Warburton believes that the current result is a "real sign" that France might win their first title since 2010.

"They went away from home and put Scotland to the sword good and proper. It was relentless breakdown pressure and an amazing counter-attack.

It is highly likely that the team will go into the game against Wales with the same determination and resolute.

Expert Betting Tips

Considering the recent statistics and performance, it seems that France will knock it out of the park on March 11 as well. Even if the winning streak is to be broken, it doesn’t seem that Wales will be the one to do it.
