Lugano vs Zurich Prediction: Battle for top spot continues at Cornaredo Stadium

Cornaredo stadium will host the week 15 Swiss Super League game between Lugano and Zurich. Both teams settled for a draw in their last meeting. Will there be a winner in this highly rated fixture?

Lugano are coming off a league defeat against Young Boys the previous time out in the league and will hope for a better result. In that game, Lugano came from behind to level the score with Anto Grgic’s strike before the break after Cedric Itten had put Young Boys in the lead in the 19th minute. However, a 76th-minute strike from Alan Virginius, who did well converting Kastriot Imeri's pass, denied Lugano a point at full-time. Heading into this game, Lugano have lost consecutive matches, the first against TSC in the Conference League. Yet, this team is one point behind their opponent in the standings, leaving them seated in the third spot. 

Zurich were held to a 1-1 draw by Servette the last time in a league competition before the break. In that encounter, Bledian Krasniqi did well in putting his side in the lead, but Timothe Cognat’s strike denied Zurich maximum points. However, Zurich have two wins in their last five games, coming against Grasshoppers and Sion. Yet, this side lost to Servette in that run while settling for a goalless draw with Young Boys. In the league this season, Zurich have 26 points, the most by any side after week 14 matches. 

There are a lot of expectations from both teams in this fixture, and they can not afford to lose points. While Lugano are at home, there is no doubt that this is their best chance of going top of the standings. However, Zurich have been decent lately, pulling solid performances against tough opponents. However, I do not see Lugano settling low for this tough opponent; they have won only once in recent times. I fancy Zurich, but Lugano's home-turf advantage is considerable. Hence, in a game where we could witness a close outcome, a bet on both teams scoring with the home side winning is a good option.
