Togo vs South Sudan Prediction: The hosts stand a better chance here, and we expect a decent start from them

Togo will host South Sudan at the Stade de Kegue Stadium on Wednesday. After their disappointing outing in the AFCON Qualifier, Sudan will hope to correct their mistakes in this tournament as they hope to participate in the World Cup tournament.

The Sparrowhawks managed just a win over their last five games in all competitions. In this qualifying round, Togo have drawn their previous two games against South Sudan and Senegal. It wasn’t a bad result, considering they played one away game and squared off against one of the best teams in the continent, Senegal. 

Kevin Denkey and Fessou Placca have been influential for the Sparrowhawks in recent games, as both players scored five times. 

Togo's previous appearance in this competition secured them a second-place finish; unfortunately, it was Senegal who made it out of the group after going six games without defeat.

The Falcons of Jediane, who were ranked 130th a few months ago according to FIFA, are now placed in 167th spot in the World. They head here without a win over their last four matches, even though they played against São Tomé, who have not won a game since 2016. They were so bad that they failed to score on their ground in the return leg of the AFCON preliminaries. They have secured a combined six in this tournament. 

Sudan lost all their games on the road, failing to score in three matches, but recorded two wins and a defeat at home. Sudan's last appearance in this competition ended with three points from eighteen, as they failed to win any of their games.

Their most recent meeting ended in a (1-1) draw in November last year, with Togo coming from a goal down to secure a point. The Sparrowhawks have a balanced team, and with Kevin Denkey back to form, we expect the Cercle Brugge striker to inspire his side to win here. Moreover, National Bank of Egypt striker has also recovered from injury, and we expect Yaw Annor to boost their attack as well. On the opposing end, South Sudan have been below par lately, and we can’t see them pulling any stunt against a well-coached Togo team; bet on a home halftime win for 2.27.

We think the hosts will win and score more than once for 1.97.
