Bristol City vs Oxford United Prediction: Oxford are currently on a run

Bristol City are set to play host to Oxford United in English Championship Game Week 6 at Ashton Gate Stadium. Oxford are currently on a run of form in the seventh position of the table. Who will win at full-time?

The appointment of Liam Manning as Bristol City's head coach in November seemed forward-thinking in terms of playing style. However, with the lowest win ratio - 31% - and a crushing loss at the hands of Derby County and subsequently another loss to Blackburn Rovers, there is little wonder that his job could be at a precarious end. Their only success in the 2024-25 season has been of the 4-3 variety against Millwall, and Bristol City have shipped three goals in three of their last four matches. They have played five halves of football to no score yet are 17th in the league table. Well, a plus for them is that they have not lost at home in their first two games, which should be a good sign for Manning to carry into the next game.

Oxford as well, arrive at this game unbeaten having won all four matches at Kassam Stadium coming for Oxford United in different competitions. In their last match they won 1-0 against Stoke City, as this is the result that has led to the dismissal of Steven Schumacher who is indeed Stoke City's manager. Oxford, on the other hand, has been pathetic away from home in losing all three away matches and two of them were against Coventry and three of them through single-goal margins. While survival is their main target this season, another win in this match could see them climb into the top half of the table with increased confidence.

Manning is expected to make some changes to his Bristol City starting lineup, with Sinclair Armstrong potentially back in the mix and playing down the centre of attack. Haydon Roberts and Yu Hirakawa may only get a spot in the final third. Rob Dickie, Ross McCrorie, Rob Atkinson, and George Earthy are unavailable due to injury. Ruben Rodrigues might replace Cameron Brannagan in midfield as Brannagan suffers from a muscle injury gained against Stoke. The rest of the team shouldn't change much though Greg Leigh keeps his left-back place until Joe Bennett returns after the new year.

However, while Oxford looks the goods about their start to the season, Bristol City should take something from this game at Ashton Gate.
