Congo vs Uganda Prediction: The two teams have nothing to lose

Congo and Uganda will battle it out in this AFCON qualifying encounter at Stade Alphonse Massamba-Debat. The two nations head into this game following a defeat in their last qualifying game. Which team wins here?

Congo lost to South Sudan the previous week, ending their hopes for a spot in the next AFCON tournament. In that encounter, Congo took the lead twice, with Christopher Ibayi’s striking each time. However, Data Elly’s 84th minute strike was enough to seal maximum points for their opponent in that game, after Ebon Ezibon had found the back of the net twice to level for his side. Heading into this final qualifying encounter, Congo have three defeats and one draw in their last matches. 

Uganda lost to South Africa the previous week in this qualifier, and will hope to turn things around. In that encounter, Uganda conceded twice in the second half despite their first half strong defensive play, with Thapelo Morena and Patrick Maswanganyi netting for their opponent. In the meantime, it is important to note that this team did not lose any of their first four qualifying games. With ten points, Uganda sit second in Group K, scoring seven goals and conceding five in five matches. 

I believe Uganda will add to Congo’s struggles in this game. While Congo have been struggling, their poor defensive play is another issue which they will have to deal with. With poor performance offensively, the two teams are expected to settle for defensive play. Take Uganda to win, thanks to their quality squad as I believe they will not bench their best players.
