Club Brugge vs Genk Prediction: Brugge won’t drop points

Club Brugge will resume their league win chase when they take on another in-form Genk side at the Jan Breydel Stadion. In recent games, both teams have been unbeatable. Will either side's fine record end here, or will a draw satisfy both sides?

Club Brugge made it five consecutive victories last weekend against Union Saint-Gilloise, pulling off a road win in that game. With the first half ending goalless, Hugo Vetlesen put Club Brugge ahead in the 52nd minute of the game before receiving his second yellow card, which saw him sent off. However, Bjorn Meijer extended their winning margin to two goals, and although Cameron Puertas pulled one back for Union Saint-Gilloise, that was not enough to deny Club Brugge all three points. In their other wins, Club Brugge defeated PAOK in both legs of their quarterfinals Europe Conference League and pulled off a league win over Anderlecht. In the Championship Group of the Belgian Pro League, Club Brugge is seated second with 36 points, two behind first-placed Anderlecht.

Genk will look to extend their unbeaten record to seven with a win here. Last weekend, this side defeated league-leading Anderlecht in a 2-1 encounter, thanks to Arokodare's first-half strike and Andi Zeqiri's late-minute goal from the spot. In the meantime, other games in that stretch saw Genk defeat Standard Liege, Union Saint-Gilloise, and Antwerp while they drew Cercle Brugge and Westerlo. This season in the Championship Group of the Belgian Pro League, Genk are seated 4th spot with 35 points. This spot will certainly guarantee them a promotion to European Conference League playoffs.

Genk won three in the last meetings between these sides, while Club Brugge won one. However, one other encounter ended 1-1. In four of those matches, both sides found the back of the net, while four games ended with three or more goals.

While both teams are still in contention for the league title, I expect them to come all out for the win and, hence, goals from both ends.
