Tanzanian Football Federation (TFF) boss Wallace Karia is confident that the East African region will host a spectacle of an event at next year’s Africa Nations Championship (CHAN). The Confederation of African Football (CAF) confirmed in its executive committee meeting that Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania will be handed hosting rights for the competition in February of next year.
We are really delighted that we could get such an opportunity and we promise that East Africa will show the rest of the continent a brilliant display. We are happy because our three Heads of State are very committed and they want to see the success of this event. We heard what the Kenyan President William Ruto told us during the executive committee meeting and we are delighted that we can get such support.
Karia told exclusively marvelbetgames.com.
President Ruto addressed the Executive Committee meeting in Nairobi on Monday, where he assured of the Kenyan government’s support towards next year’s showpiece.
The three countries will host the 2027 top tier Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and the CHAN, a tournament tailor made for locally based players, will be a good yardstick to emasure what to expect in 2027.
We will deliver, without a doubt. In Tanzania, preparations are going on well, same as Kenya and Uganda. All our facilities will be ready.
Karia told exclusively marvelbetgames.com.
The CHAN tournament will involve 19 teams. With three hosts already assured of a ticket, qualification will now involve 16 teams.
