Guardiola Comments on Tuchel’s Appointment as England National Team Head Coach

Josep Guardiola, the head coach of the English Premier League club Manchester City, has shared his thoughts on the recent changes in the coaching staff of the England national football team.

On October 16, the press service of the Three Lions officially announced that Thomas Tuchel, a 51-year-old German specialist, would take charge of the English team starting in 2025. Currently, interim coach Lee Carsley is set to lead the team in the remaining UEFA Nations League matches.

According to Mirror, Tuchel’s salary under his agreement with the Football Association (FA) will be around five million pounds per year, with the contract valid for one and a half years.

BBC quotes Guardiola as saying:

Thomas Tuchel is the manager, I must congratulate him and the FA. It's a big job, after nine years here I wish the very, very best for him. The federation decide for a foreign manager with a great record. My view is I would support him unconditionally. If he wins he will be praised and if he loses he will be criticized. But it doesn't matter his nationality. I know we are proud of where we are from, but the world is so big. You have to be open minded.

Prior to this appointment, Tuchel coached Bayern Munich from 2023 to 2024. He also has experience in England, where he led Chelsea to victories in the Champions League (2020/2021) and UEFA Super Cup (2021).
