Football Leaks Founder Plans to Release Documents On Financial Violations Of Man City

Rui Pinto, the founder of the Football Leaks platform, has announced his intentions to publish new documents related to the activities of Manchester City and violations of Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules.

In February 2023, the Premier League accused Manchester City of 115 different financial rule violations from the 2009/10 season to the 2017/18 season. The investigation has been ongoing since December 2018. The case will be reviewed starting in the fall of 2024, with a decision expected no sooner than the summer of 2025.

Pinto stated at the OffShore-Alert Marbella conference:

The Man City releases showed amounts of money being paid into by the club that were not mentioned to the football authorities. These documents are from part of the Premier League investigation into City.

Pinto also mentioned that he had provided five hard drives with millions of documents reflecting the activities of specific clubs to German and French authorities. He speculated that the information could help them find criminal relevancy.

Pinto’s lawyer said that investigators had asked them to share information related to the management's activities of the Citizens. He clarified that he could not provide an exact timeline, but eventually, the documentation will be released.

It is worth noting that in the fall of 2023, Pinto was given a conditional four-year prison sentence for disclosing over 70 million football-related documents.
