The British government is about to transfer the funds from Roman Abramovich's sale of Chelsea in the amount of 2.6 billion euros to Ukraine, The Telegraph reported.

According to the source, the British government is ready to pay these funds from a special sanctions account. It is also reported that EU approval is required for the tranche.

Abramovich has owned Chelsea since 2003. The London club has won 21 trophies during this time, including two victories in the final of the Champions League.

The team's last victory in the final of Europe's premier tournament was in the 2020/21 season. Chelsea beat Manchester City 1-0 in the final.
