The World Boxing Organization (WBO) has named a mandatory challenger for their heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk. The contender is New Zealand boxer Joseph Parker.
According to the ruling, both teams must agree on a fight within the next 30 days.
Usyk last fought against Tyson Fury in December 2024. In that fight, which went the full distance, Oleksandr won by unanimous decision, successfully defending his WBA, WBC, WBO, and IBO titles in the heavyweight category. He holds a record of 23 wins (14 by knockout) and no losses.
Parker's most recent ring appearance was against Martin Bakole in February this year. He won that fight by technical knockout in the second round, defending his interim WBO heavyweight title. Parker's record now stands at 36 wins (24 by knockout) and three losses.
